Enjoying life at home with no trips planned until May. Last Sunday my Elvis loving husband took me to see Baz Luhrmann’s EPIC: Elvis Presley in Concert. Elvis had an “in on the joke” smile on his face during his performances that I have never noticed before. It made me like him a little better. I am not a fan of the man, but I do like the energy of Viva Las Vegas, the song and the movie. Spent a good part of Friday and Saturday counseling my niece about the pregnant cat she found near her apartment. Friday night we rewatched two episodes of Peaky Blinders, and ate mushroom pizza. Saturday is for errands and chores and a little something extra for dinner. I got out of the house early, picked up my now framed Dorothy Waugh National Parks posters, and bought supplies for dinner. We made vodka martinis, followed by this steak recipe. I made Nigella Lawson’s Chocolate Guinness Cake for the week and supervised hanging our new wall art. The posters ended up in the Peloton Room and the illuminated print from St. Patrick’s Cathedral gift shop is in the dining room. We did not turn on the TV last night; instead made late dinner together, like Europeans, listened to a 60’s martini music playlist and ate cake. Today feeling a little draggy from the martinis, and possibly the steak and cake, tbh. I juiced energy shots with ginger, carrot, orange and turmeric. That, and two cups of coffee got me to 9 am Mass. It was nice enough to walk to church but the cold Spring rain has since started. Sunday is for doing nothing. My dogs are snoring, my cats are laying on the couch near me. I’ll write, read the Sunday New York Times online, and look out the window. Peace.
